Stay up to date with everything going on

Hosted by the KCMG Real Estate Team and Downingtown Life, this Community Spotlight features Rich Mitchell of Rich Mitchell Creative, a local artist whose journey is rooted in transformation, creativity, and letting go of perfectionism.
What began as helping his son work through anxiety and perfectionism ultimately led Rich back to his own passion for drawing—and the start of his art business in Downingtown, PA.
Rich spent nearly 20 years in education before shifting into a full-time creative path. While working with his son, he rediscovered drawing—something he had once stepped away from due to the pressure of perfection.
That experience became the foundation of his artistic mission today.
Earlier in his career, Rich focused on highly detailed pointillism, a style that required precision and control. Today, his approach is completely different.
Now he:
Uses pen, ink, watercolor, and marker freely
Embraces mistakes as part of the process
Adds bold color and texture
Focuses on expression over perfection
His philosophy is simple:
Create freely, even if it’s imperfect.
Beyond creating artwork, Rich’s mission is to help others—especially kids and adults—overcome anxiety, perfectionism, and fear of failure through creativity.
His work is now featured in local businesses throughout Chester County and continues to grow through commissions and community support.
